What Can You Do?
Lots!!! Here are some ideas:
1. Reduce your energy use at home, some ideas:
| Take shorter showers |
Start a compost pile |
| Reduce, reuse, recycle!!! |
Turn water off when you're
brushing teeth or washing dishes |
| Wear clothes more than once |
Make sure you turn everything off
when not using! |
| Change lightbulbs to compact
fluorescent |
Turn down thermostats -- wear
sweaters! |
| Consider switching slowly to
solar (ie hot water heaters) |
Don't heat spaces you don't use (ie
garages) |
| Don't heat swimming pools during
periods when not in use |
Buy more efficient appliances |
| Only run dishwasher or washer
when full |
Reduce use of dryer, hang up
clothes to dry |
| Watch TV less, play outside
instead or read! |
Don't use disposables (paper
plates, napkins, etc.) |

2. Reduce the amount of gasoline you use, some
ideas:
| Convince your parents to drive a
hybrid car |
Tell your parents to drive at the
speed limit |
| Run errands in groups to avoid
extra trips |
Use the schoolbus! |
| Reduce your idling,
except in traffic: "if you're stopped for more than ten,
turn it off and on again!" |
